More Flocking

Jake from communityguy.com has commented here that we need to keep the ‘mom test’ in mind when talking about social tools like flock, RSS and (by extension) tagging, del.icio.us etc. When we think beyond what WE might get out of this tool, its future does indeed look much brighter.

Jake, I think, has a good point here. A firefox extension will not be as easy to use as a piece of software primarily written as a social tool. This is where flock can succeed and indeed make a hufe difference in the long run. Those of us who actually know about flock are clearly a minority. By the time flock is being used beyond the early adopter scene, we will have long moved on to the next shiny tool that looms over the horizon. I would still say that flock still has a long way to go, though.
