In case you haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, Riya is a photo site with a twist. It recognizes faces… and it does it well. Now the rumor is, Google might be interested. If you think about it, this seems like a really good buy for Google. They might be able to integrate this with their Picassa application and create a killer product.

The latest Google buzz is that the search giant is buying or talking about acquiring Riya, a Redwood City, Calif.-based company that uses facial-recognition technology to enable users to search for people in photos. Pretty nifty idea if it works.
